Cast out and raise your rod from 9 to 10 o'clock before closing the bail to create slack. Drop, snap the rod tip up, take up a little slack with the reel, and repeat in rhythm. Work the rod — not the reel. When a bass blows up, wait until you feel the weight before setting the hook.
